The hostel was named "Lithochoro" as it is one of the three most likely versions for the name of the village. The first version comes from mythology and was specifically named "Letochoro" because here was the homeland of Leto, which bathed in the waters of Enipeus. The second version wants the name to be due to the austere space or the Byzantine word "austere" which means prayer. The latest version, from which the name of the hostel "Lithochoro" came, claims that over the years it was paraphrased into "Litochoro" and means stone place, since the village is built at the foot of Mount Olympus. Also, in the past all the roads were paved and the houses were built of stone.
