Harris Restaurant was founded in 1980 by Harris Petkakis and his wife Roditsa at the harbour of Platamon, being one of the first establishments to open there, serving mainly sea food. It started as a traditional family tavern, over time offering new dishes and flavors.
In 1990 the business expanded and began offering apartments to let, in the same building as the restaurant. In 2001 the establishment went through a major renovation process. The kitchen and all relevant equipment was updated in order to meet or exceed current E.U. hygiene norms. The apartments were also renovated to meet EOT (Greek Tourist Organization) standards.
At the head of the business is now Mary, the daughter of Harris Petkakis, who is behind the expansion and renovation of the business.
The specialties of the restaurant include prawn and mussel risotto, pasta with prawns, shellfish, sea food salad and pasta, fresh roast squid, along with all aspects of Greek Cuisine.
